How to choose among the 12 classes
The SRD 5.1 organizes classes around a primary ability: Strength and Dexterity for physical combat, Intelligence/Wisdom/Charisma for spellcasting, each tradition with its own power source (study, faith, pact, innate nature).
For beginners, classes with fewer decisions per turn (Fighter, Cleric) tend to be simpler to play than ones that require managing many prepared spells (Wizard, Druid).
